February 2021 Update: The 2020 PlanCOS Annual Report Published for Review

The second annual PlanCOS Annual Report has been published for review, and may be viewed here:

The annual report will be reviewed by the City Planning Commission and City Council in the coming months. Like last year’s, the report contains updated data, statuses on key initiatives, and discusses projects which saw movement in 2020. Additionally, this report dives into the many programs and initiatives in response to COVID-19.

August 2020 Update: “PlanCOS Isn’t Just Sitting On A Shelf” interview between the City Planning Department and KRCC

Following the publication of the first annual report, KRCC conducted an interview with City Planning regarding the many projects underway that support the city’s newly adopted comprehensive planA comprehensive plan is a guiding document that provides a framework for city policies and priorities regarding the physical development of the city. It is a long-range vision of what we want our city to become and is a tool for making decisions about how that vision should be achieved. It outlines strategic steps to make the vision a reality and provides targeted and strategic planning of the physical development of the city., PlanCOS.

June 2020 Update: 2019 PlanCOS Annual Report Published

The inaugural PlanCOS Annual Report has been published and may be viewed here: 

The annual report was reviewed by the City Planning Commission in May 2020 and by the City Council in June 2020. This annual report contains updated data, statuses on key initiatives, and discusses cool projects which saw movement in 2019!

October 2019 Update: PlanCOS is award winning

PlanCOS was selected by the Colorado Chapter of the American Planning Association for the “2019 Best General Plan”.  Thank you to all those who helped make PlanCOS a great plan. 

July 2019 Update: Studio 809 Podcast

Celebrating Unique Places: PlanCOS kicked off its first year following approval of the Colorado Springs Comprehensive Plan update by Celebrating Unique Places. This celebration was co-hosted by PlanCOS and the Council of Neighborhoods and Organizations (CONO). The event was held July 18, 2019 at Lincoln Center. It included libations at Goat Patch Brewery, bicycle rides courtesy of PikeRide, fire truck tours, pop-up workouts by Penrose-St. Francis Health Services, and a panel discussion with residents from different parts of the city discussing how their neighborhoods provide a sense of community.

May 2019 Update: Get Involved with HomeCOS

Take the Colorado Springs Affordable Housing Survey. Input from this survey will be used to help shape and focus the development of our Attainable HousingAttainable housing means decent, attractive, safe, and sanitary accommodation that is affordable for the full spectrum of the city's residents. While a cost of no more than 30% of gross household income is a good rule of thumb for affordability, there will be some circumstances where higher or lower thresholds may be more applicable. Plan which is one of the key initiatives recommended in PlanCOS.  This survey closes on June 16, 2019. After that look for the results on the Community Development page.
