Meet the CSPD SRO Supervisory Team
Lt. Patrick David
I started my career in law enforcement with the Colorado Springs Police Department in 1999. I have worked as a Patrol Officer, DUI Officer, Motorcycle Officer, and an Instructor at our Training Academy. I have also worked on our Major Crash and Negotiator Teams. I was promoted to sergeant in 2013 and lieutenant in 2019. I am currently the lieutenant for the SRO Unit and it has been an honor and privilege to work with this team of officers in collaboration with the school districts in Colorado Springs to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for our children.
I am a father of four children which keeps my wife and I busy with attending dance recitals and football games. As a family, we enjoy hunting, fishing and as the beautiful landscape that Colorado provides. I have never shied away from a mic and try to live my American Idol dream at a karaoke bar every chance I get.
Sgt. Rick Bubacz
I have been with CSPD since February 2003 and prior to that I was deputy with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office for roughly four years. I served as the SRO for Coronado High School from 2008-2012 and was promoted to sergeant in April 2012. In May 2013 I became one of the SRO sergeants that oversees the unit. I believe the SRO position is one of the most important on the department because it truly is a proactive job that helps build positive relationships between youth and law enforcement.
I moved to Colorado in 1997 from the east coast and I am a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins fan. When not at work I enjoy outdoor activities, such as hiking with my wife and our dog, fishing, hunting, camping and riding OHVs on the trails throughout the state.
Sgt. Phil Tollefson
I have been with CSPD since February 2002 and have worked as a Patrol Officer in the Falcon, Gold Hill, Sand Creek, and Stetson Hills Divisions. I spent approximately 2 years as a traffic crash investigator before becoming a Major Crash Detective. After several years as a crash detective, I returned to patrol where I became a Police Training Officer (PTO) and began training recruit officers. I left patrol to work in the Homicide Unit, where I spent several years in the investigations field before returning to Major Crash Investigations. I was promoted to Sergeant in 2019 and became one of the SRO Sergeants in 2022 where I assist in the unit supervision.
I enjoy serving the SRO unit as its truly a collaborative proactive policing unit that works with schools, parents and students for the benefit of the community. I grew up in Colorado Springs and have been a hockey and lacrosse fan since childhood. I enjoy spending time with my family and enjoy playing board games, table hockey, coaching and watching the Avalanche, lacrosse and football.
Sgt. Robert Dazey
I have been a police officer since 1986. Prior to my current 25 years with the Colorado Springs Police Department, I was with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office and a police officer in the United Stated Air Force. I have served in every aspect of law enforcement, to include SWAT, K-9, detective, dispatch, and School Resource officer, to name a few. Of all the positions I have been fortunate to work, I enjoy the School Resource officer the most. I truly believe it is one of the few positions in law enforcement that you get to see an immediate positive return on the work you do with the students. I was recently selected to oversee the Community Response unit and the School Resource officers assigned to District 2. This has given me another chance to get back to what I love most, working with kids.
My family moved to Colorado Springs in 1972, I was nine years old. I have had a chance to see this city grow. I am loyal Colorado sports fan, rooting for the Broncos, Avalanche, Nuggets and Rockies. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two children. My son is as active in sports as I was at his age, so I get a chance to relive my childhood sports days through lifting weights with him and cheering him on in football and wrestling. My daughter is carbon copy of me, enough said. I would probably enjoy a lot of other hobbies, but currently my wife and children are my full time hobby.
